General Manager Danish Aerospace Company North America, Inc.

Danish Aerospace Company – provider of human spaceflight exercise, medical and life support systems and services for more than 25 years – has established a new U.S. subsidiary company based in the Houston, Texas area. Danish Aerospace Company – North America, Inc. will market and sell equipment and services to the U.S. Government (NASA) and U.S. companies involved in government and commercial human space flight activities.

The General Manager will initially be the only full‐time employee of Danish Aerospace Company – North America (DAC‐NA). He/she will report to the DAC‐NA Board of Directors and be responsible for business development, contracting and general operations of the company.

Education and Experience: Professional degree and at least six years of space relevant work experience in engineering, science, medicine, business, management or another relevant field.

Key Skills: This position requires strong strategic thinking, oral and written communications skills. The position also requires management, administrative and organizational capabilities to direct the U.S. business activities of a highly successful aerospace company.

Background

Danish Aerospace Company – based in Odense, Denmark provides medical, exercise and water recycling equipment for human spaceflight missions. This includes:

  • Excercise and health monitoring for use on the International Space Station and other human spaceflight vehicles.
  • Hardware and software systems for monitoring the exercise performance of astronauts and spaceflight participants.
  • Water recycling technology for space applications through DAC's joint venture, the Aquaporin Space Alliance
  • Support to human physiology scientific research, payloads and experiments for the ISS
  • Mechanical systems and subsystems for specific space-based applications

Danish Aerospace Company – North America, Inc. (DAC‐NA) is a U.S. “C” Corporation, registered in Delaware with its business office located in the Houston, Texas area. DAC‐NA, which expects to begin operations in July 2017, will market and sell DAC developed projects and services in North America.

Position Description

The General Manager of Danish Aerospace Company – North America, Inc. (DAC‐NA) will be responsible for business development, contracting as well as day‐to‐day management of the company.

He/she will:

  • Develop and execute a business development strategy for DAC‐NA.
  • Establish and maintain contacts with current and prospective DAC‐NA customers in the U.S. Government and industry.
  • Plan, organize and execute DAC‐NA participation in exhibitions, conferences and other marketing opportunities.
  • Manage proposal preparation for prospective government and commercial contracts.
  • Execute contracts and ensure compliance with Federal, State and local laws and regulations.
  • Recruit, select and direct the work of support staff – as necessary – to conduct the work of DAC‐NA.
  • Manage DAC‐NA’s financial, regulatory and legal activities.
  • Support current DAC U.S. activities associated with ongoing subcontracts with U.S. companies.

In carrying out his/her responsibilities, the General Manager will report to the DAC‐NA Board of Directors which will provide guidance and authorize major financial, contractual and personnel decisions prior to their execution. The General Manager will also carry out his/her duties in accordance with DACNA’s governance policy and procedures as well as applicable laws and regulations.

Required Competencies:
  • Professional degree and at least six years of space relevant work experience in engineering, science, medicine, business, management or another relevant field.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, oral and written communications skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully planning and managing programs or business initiatives.
  • Familiarity with the U.S. human spaceflight and/or commercial spaceflight sectors.
Desired Competencies:
  • Business development, marketing and sales experience.
  • U.S. Government/aerospace industry proposal and contracting experience.
  • Familiarity with U.S. national security space programs, export control regulations, and federal government contracting.
  • Leadership, collaboration and organizational management skills.
  • Experience in pursuing corporate/organizational visions.
  • Additional language skills.
